Rangers, Chevron present checks to five West Texas nonprofits at Globe Life Field
Representatives of five organizations serving youth in the Permian Basin left Globe Life Field in Arlington with a giant “W” on Sept. 21.
As we recently reported, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation recently teamed up with Chevron on an annual community grant program to support organizations serving young people in Midland and Odessa.
In the inaugural grant application process, five nonprofits were chosen to receive a share of $50,000 in grants: Casa de Amigos, First Tee–West Texas, Midland Junior Baseball, Society of Petroleum Engineers–Permian Basin Section, and Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Midland.

At the Rangers-Mariners game at Globe Life Field on Sept. 21, representatives of the five winning organizations were honored during a pre-game check presentation.
The nonprofits will use the funds to provide a variety of youth programming, including STEM/STEAM education and to support athletics programs.
Chevron representatives Jonathan Harshman and Valerie Acosta were present to honor the inaugural grant winners. They congratulated the winners and expressed gratitude to the Rangers Foundation for the partnership, and also to their Chevron colleagues who reached out to local organizations to encourage them to apply for a grant.
