Olympian Bryce Hoppel to throw out first pitch at RockHounds game
Midland native and two-time Olympian Bryce Hoppel will throw out our ceremonial first pitch at the Midland RockHounds game on Tuesday, Sept. 17, the team announced online.
Hoppel, the current US men’s 800m record holder, will also “take to the track between innings and race against one lucky fan,” the team stated.

Hoppel, 26, just missed medaling in the 800 meter track race in the 2024 Summer Olympics, but became the fastest American to run the race and also secured his place in the hearts of his hometown and nation.
