State-of-the-art outdoor fitness court coming to Pecos park

Pecos will soon have of a state-of-the-art outdoor fitness court at one of its parks, courtesy of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.

The Fitness Court, which will be located at Maxey Park, is an outdoor gym that enables people to use their own body weight to get a complete workout via seven exercise stations, according to the city.

It’s created for people ages 14 and over, and with all abilities in mind. The court allows participants to move at their own pace and skill level.

When the Fitness Court opens, Pecos plans to “expand free access to high quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for communities around the state,” city officials said. Visitors can download a free Fitness Court app, which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket during workouts.

The upcoming Pecos Fitness Center is one of 20 such courts that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas plans to construct in easily accessible public spaces this year.
