Odessa American readers pick Carlsbad for ‘Best Day Trip’ award

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway is understandably pleased by the Odessa American’s latest edition of its Best of the Permian “Reader’s Choice” awards.

“Once again, the newspaper’s readers picked our city for the “Best Day Trip” award,” Janway proclaimed in a recent blog. “We have been selected for this multiple times over the past decade, and we are very proud of this honor.”

The city clipped a screengrab from the print publication listing the Reader’s Choice awards and shared it on Facebook.

“The Lake Carlsbad Beach area is an especially popular destination for families wanting to take a short trip out of town, with visitors enjoying our water park, swimming area, splash pads, volleyball, pickleball courts and more,” Janway said. “The recent return of boat rides offered through the Chamber of Commerce, as well as paddleboat and other rentals offered by the River Hut, provides additional options for our visiting guests. We know that the miniature golf course is also popular for both our residents and visitors. We’re so fortunate to have the Pecos River run through our community – and we’re proud to be selected as the spot for the best “day trip.”
