Odessa artist’s painting shared by singer Erykah Badu
The City of Odessa gave a shout-out on social media to hometown artist, Brandon Norman, April 27 for having his painting of Erykah Badu reposted on Facebook by the famed singer herself.
It all started when Norman posted a painting of Erykah Badu on Trading Post and it received a lot of attention. On April 20, Badu reposted Norman’s painting of her and stated, “This era was impactful to me (2001-2004) captured very well,” followed by numerous clapping hands emojis. As of this writing, Badu’s post about has 3.7 thousand likes on Facebook.
Norman is a full-time artist who learned his craft from his mother, who is also an artist. According to the City on Facebook, he has lived in Odessa for two decades and is “excited to be one of the artists featured at City Hall.” The City suggests community members check out his painting “Basquiat,” which is located in the Council Chambers.
