Odessa High senior Cooper Aranda is described as a natural leader who is enthusiastic, friendly and reliable. He can now add pioneering to that list.
Cooper was recently sworn in to serve as the first student advisor in history to serve on the Texas Crime Stoppers Council, helping make decisions that lead to safer local communities.
The ceremony took place before family, friends and local Crime Stopper program leaders in 70th District Court Judge Dann Whalen’s courtroom in Odessa, according to Ector County ISD.
Cooper is no stranger to the program. At just 13 years old, Cooper was selected to serve as a Student Crime Stopper Ambassador for the state.
“Crime Stoppers is, in my opinion, is such an amazing program across Texas,” Cooper said. “It’s to be able to put the community together and not just telling crime but [issues like] date violence, suicidal thoughts, both on and off campus we can help. And also, fundraisers; we do Blue Santa, we do the shred event, and this program is just one that gives back to the community and I love being able to be a part of that.”
