Odessa’s Ruby Mahan turns 100 years young

The City of Odessa is celebrating the 100th birthday of one of its own.

Ruby Mahan, who was born Sept. 27, 1923, moved to Odessa in the 1960s and has four sons and nine grandchildren, the city reported on Facebook.

Her granddaughter described her as “loving, caring, giving, and our rock,” the city added.

During her life, she’s been a stay-at-home mom, a Sunday School teacher, and she’s sold real estate. She’s also fought breast cancer and leukemia and never complained about being sick. In fact, she still lives on her own, albeit near to her family, Jennifer told the city.

Jennifer says her grandmother’s strong Christian faith has been the key to her longevity.
