This morning, Midland Mayor Patrick Payton shared an image from a push-in ceremony for the Midland Fire Department's new engine at Station 11. The Spartan Metro Star was donated by Oxy Petroleum, the mayor added. "A push-in ceremony is a long-standing tradition that dates back to the 1800's and the days of horse-drawn fire equipment," Mayor Payton said. "When returning to the station, firefighters had to unhitch the horses and 'push in' the fire wagon. The push-in ceremony celebrates that the engine is ready for service."
