Midland native Bryce Hoppel qualifies for Olympic 800m final

Midland High graduate Bryce Hoppel qualified for his first-ever Olympic 800m final on Friday.
Hoppel, 26, finished second in the third semifinal heat in 1 minute, 43.41 seconds in Paris.
The Olympic final is set to take place Saturday, Aug. 10, at 12:05 p.m. CDT. It will be televised on NBC. More info here.
A watch party will be held at Midland RockHounds Stadium’s Diamond Club at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. It will be hosted by NBC affiliate NewsWest 9 and the City of Midland.
