Pecos welcomes groundbreaking for Cyclone Ballparks expansion
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday, Feb. 20 for the Phase II expansion of Cyclone Ballparks in Pecos.
The Town of Pecos City is hosting the event from 11 a.m. to noon at the facility’s entrance, with remarks from Cyclone staff, Mayor Teresa Winkles, city officials and representatives from management firm Sports Facilities Companies (SFC) and project developer Mammoth.
Attendees will receive free swag gifts from Cyclone Ballparks and the Town of Pecos City.
The Phase II expansion will include three new multi-purpose fields, two new modern food and beverage buildings (including a viewing deck and a rentable event space), a spray pad and playground and additional parking spaces that will bring the total spaces to over 700.

The project will increase the number of baseball diamonds at the complex to 11, which will allow Cyclone Ballparks to host simultaneous events, “making it one of the country’s best diamond sports tournament facilities,” officials said.
The project is expected to be completed by September or October, in time for the fall season, City Manager Charles Lino said.
Jessica Kuhl, SFC VP of venue management, said expansion will bring top-notch facilities to Pecos while boosting the local economy and bringing in visitors.
