“Permian Basin Gives Day,” a one-day fundraiser encouraging area residents to contribute to the nonprofits that serve our community, is set to take place Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The giving period starts at 12:01 a.m. that day and ends at 11:59 p.m.

Nearly 130 nonprofit organizations serving communities of the Permian Basin are participating in “Permian Basin Gives Day.” Among them is Communities in Schools of the Permian Basin (CISPB), which aims to raise $15,000 in funding for more than 20,000 at-risk students in four school districts, including the Midland ISD, Ector County ISD, Big Spring ISD and Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD.

CISPB says its fundraising goal will go a long way toward supporting its vast array of services for students including: Case management; mental health support, including counseling; providing emergency funds, academic support, basic necessities, school supplies and family resources; mentorship programs; XY Zone programming; Project Athena programming; Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day; college visits; Beyond School Walls; Pink Pantry; Peer Support Groups; and more.

The nonprofit also gave a shout-out for the Permian Basin to also support its partners such as Mission Agape, West Texas Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Junior League of Midland.
