Lawrence Butler, 22-year-old outfielder for the Midland Rockhounds, has been named to the American League team for the 2023 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which takes place in Seattle on Saturday, July 8, and is part of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game Weekend, according to the Rockhounds.

Rated the Oakland A’s No. 7 prospect by MLB.com, Lawrence is having a career year in his first Double-A season, finishing the first half with a .284 batting average, which is 30 points above his career average, the Rockhounds notes.

He’s among the Texas League’s top 10 in runs (45), hits (71), doubles and total bases, and among the league’s top 20 in batting average, homeruns (9) and RBI (39).

The A’s selected the Atlanta native in the sixth round of the 2018 draft (Westlake High School in Atlanta). He will join former RockHound Tyler Soderstrom (the A’s top prospect) on the AL roster in Seattle, according to the Rockhounds.
