UT-Permian Basin receives vote in AFCA Preseason Poll
UT-Permian Basin received a vote in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Preseason Poll.
It’s the second-straight year that the Falcons got a vote from the Preseason Poll, according to a report by UTPB Falcons Sports Information Director Tom Perpetua. The Falcons also received two first place votes in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, and were picked to finish in fifth, the athletics department reported.
Ferris State (Mich.), which won its first Division II national title after going 14-0 last year, was a unanimous selection at No. 1 in the Top 25 Poll, which is “conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at FBS schools,” according to AFCA.
In the No. 2 spot is Northwest Missouri State, followed by No. 3 Valdosta State (Ga.), No. 4 Colorado School of Mines, No. 5 Grand Valley State (Mich.), No. 6 Shepherd (W.Va.), No. 7 Angelo State (from the Lone Star Conference), No. 8 Bowie State (Md.), No. 9 Harding (Ark.), and No 10. Notre Dame (Ohio).
No. 24 Midwestern State is the only other Lone Star Conference team to break the Top 25. West Texas A&M received 15 votes in the Preseason Poll.
