Training offered amid heightened demand for electrical workers in Permian Basin
The growing Permian Basin needs electrical workers for both commercial and residential projects as well as the energy sector. To help meet the demand, the Skillpoint Alliance is offering a free four-week, full-time training program.
The program provides free licensing, safety training, hands-on skills, conduit bending and a supportive staff who help students find jobs, according to the Skillpoint Alliance.
Training happens at the Midland College Advanced Technology Center, 3200 W. Cuthbert Ave., from Monday, Aug. 8, through Friday, Sept. 2.
“Electrical grads can earn $18/hr average starting wage with lots of room to grow,” the Alliance said. “As they gain experience, they can earn $25-30/hr or more and even own their own businesses!”
