UTPB’s Sangha Park wins second consecutive LSC Golfer of Week honor
Sangha Park is having a really good few weeks.
At the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite at the Amarillo Country Club on Tuesday, the UTPB senior golfer posted a 9-under 204 to tie for first. He then sealed the individual title by sinking a 35-foot putt for birdie onf the first hole of the sudden-win playoff, according to UTPB.
In the tournament’s opening round, he carded a 63, marking a school record and the lowest round posted in the event.
The victory came on the heels of Park’s come-from-behind victory at the RJGA South Central Shootout Sept. 25-26, where he posted a 10-under 206 to win the individual title by four strokes, UTPB reports. Park had an eagle and finished with a tournament-best 16 birdies.
His victories earned him Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Week honors for boths Weeks 3 and Week 4. He’s received this honor five times in his career.
In his junior campaign, his first season at UTPB, Park was named to LSC First-Team and LSC Newcomer of the Year. In his sophomore season at Odessa College, Park finished ranked No. 1 in JUCO in scoring average, and 37th in the nation.
