Zoo planned for Midland

Zoo planned for Midland

A zoo is being planned in Midland.

“Zoo Midland” aims for a groundbreaking next year, with an opening date anticipated in mid-2027, according to the project’s new website.

The zoo is part of The Preserve at Midland project, a proposed 173-acre development at the former Nueva Vista Golf Club (6101 Wadley Ave.) that would also feature opportunities for office, retail, commercial and food and beverage spaces, according to a separate project website.  About 44 percent of The Preserve at Midland would be preserved as green space and park space, including over two miles of new public trails for walkers, runners and cyclists, the site states. One of the project’s highlights is its Central Green area, where “Midlander’s will enjoy dining and shopping options along the waterfront connected together by the walking trail,” developers state.

Zoo Midland is reportedly planned as part of the project.

“This one-of-a-kind place will take exploration and adventure to brand-new heights, as we bring the wonders of the animal kingdom into your neck of the woods,” states a post on the newly created Zoo Midland Facebook page. “Follow along for more fun updates as we prepare to kick up dirt and break ground in the new year!”
