Largest Costco in Texas coming to Midland

The largest Costco store in Texas is coming to Midland.

Construction on the store in West Midland is expected to be completed by Aug. 31, 2026, according to city officials. It is expected to be located along the Highway 191 corridor, according to news reports.

The Midland City Council approved Costco’s plan and Mayor Lori Blong signed the agreement on Aug. 13. Mayor Blong and Councilmember Amy Stretcher Burkes said getting a Costco was a top priority voiced by Midlanders.

“We have over 6,500 households in the city of Midland that already have Costco memberships,” the mayor said. “That is a staggering number when you consider the closest Costco is two hours away.”

The city said Costco will attract more retailers and help with inflation.

The new store will offer $19.50 per hour starting wages, according to a company representative. The CEO of the company is particularly interested in the project, even visiting Midland himself, the rep added.
