Pecos sells garbage truck to Presidio at half price as goodwill gesture
The Pecos City Council approved a significant 50 percent discount on the sale of a used 2004 Peterbilt garbage truck to the City of Presidio to help the neighboring community maintain its sanitation services.
Although the equipment was originally valued at $49,500, the council voted to reduce the price to $24,750 as a gesture of goodwill. The agreement addresses an immediate need in Presidio, where the local fleet required a reliable vehicle to ensure uninterrupted trash collection for residents.

“This is about helping our neighbors when we can,” said City Councilmember Valarie Trujillo. “Reliable trash service is essential for any community, and we’re proud to step up in a way that supports another Texas community.”
Presidio City Administrator Pablo Rodriguez and Public Works Director Cesar Leyva traveled to Pecos to coordinate the equipment transfer and pick up the truck. Presidio Mayor John Ferguson also visited Pecos to personally thank the council, noting that the gesture has strengthened the alliance between the two municipalities.
Pecos officials informed the public that this sale does not compromise local service levels.
